Sustainability

Sustainability is the goal, and Sustainable development is the behaviour needed to achieve that goal. In 1983, The United Nations World Commission on Environment and Development stated that Development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

In 1999 the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index introduced a definition that defines sustainability as a business approach to create long-term shareholder value by embracing opportunities and managing risks deriving from economic, environmental and social developments.

As applied to our business we define sustainability principles around the triple bottom line of social, environmental and economic performance; often referred to as People, Planet and Profits. IGS has integrated sustainability into our DNA. Sustainability is woven into our decision making processes and we work to understand how our actions affect the environment and society around us, in addition to how these actions affect IGS financially.

We also take this same attitude when working with our customers, whether it is a local collection event or a fortune 500 corporation. We work to identify, educate and provide solutions that yield the highest possible financial return for our customers while providing a service that helps to protect the environment and provides innovation and meaningful work.
